As announced in July 2007 with the release of the NJ Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) Report, the State of New Jersey is initiating the transfer from state to local control of the Jersey City public school district. In order to ensure a successful transition, JCFBS intends to closely work with local and state officials, demanding transparency and accountability for all involved.
Other important initiatives for JCFBS include the creation of a Parent Empowerment Handbook and a Handbook for Families with Special Needs. These two informational booklets will be available to families district-wide in the Fall of 2007, empowering families to seek out and demand the highest quality public education for their children.
The group will hold regular meetings on the second Tuesday of every month. Everyone is encouraged to attend, and we welcome ideas on how best to improve public education for the children of Jersey City. Our next meeting is set for Tuesday, August 14th. Meeting locations will be announced on the blog and Yahoo group.
